Creating an effective narrative for Carbo Culture.

Strategic Storytelling

12 Weeks | Helsinki

Carbo Culture is a CO₂ trapping startup converting decomposing materials into biochar products, and emitting carbon removal credits.

We helped the founders find the best way to showcase their carbon-trapping technology by refining their different use cases, revamping their storytelling, and providing fundraising support.

"Urban Impact’s contribution to our storytelling and positioning helped us get the clarity and confidence in how to tell the world about our work, which was crucial for the successful fundraising."

Context

Biochar is one of the most versatile materials for trapping CO₂ , yet many people have never heard of it and are not aware of its potential. Carbo Culture approached us to help them rethink their narrative and create a series of communication strategies that would help with fundraising and go-to-market.

Our Role

We got into the ins and outs of production, features, and potential use cases to understand the best communication angle. Our network in real estate and utilities helped us refine their product-market fit and outline innovative use cases: from stormwater filtration to green-roof material. This new way of looking at the value of Carbo Culture informed the design of a new pitch deck and investment memo.

Results

With the help of this new strategy and pitch deck, Carbo culture was able to secure venture capital investment and scale its operations. In early 2021, the company closed a €6.4m seed round led by True Ventures and Cherry Ventures.
